Justice Initiative
We believe in community access to justice with socialisation of law and procedures with legal and technical / advisory on various human rights and community security issues. We also assist in referral services with various governmental departments to ensure justice to victims of insecurity and rights violation. We support Restorative Justice, an indigenous justice system that heals by repairing harm and fostering reconciliation over punishment through principles of accountability, empathy, and collaboration, restorative justice seeks to provide healing for victims, offer meaningful consequences for offenders, and build safer, more connected communities.
Peacebuilding & Countering Violent Extremism
We work to address the challenge of radicalization and violence. While traditional peacebuilding might focus on conflict resolution and reconciliation, our P/CVE program recognizes that violent extremism requires addressing root causes like marginalization and inequality, promoting social cohesion, strengthening justice systems, and engaging youth through education and employment. The ultimate goal is to build resilient communities that can resist ideologies of violence, fostering long-term peace and security. We aim to mitigate and eliminate all form of discrimination and violence in our community collectively using human rights and progressive values.
Land is essential for livelihoods for people in Sabah who often reliant on natural resources like agriculture to provide food, income, and economic growth. A sustainable livelihood ensures people can meet their current needs and adapt to future stresses without depleting the resource base or harming the environment. Achieving this involves a harmonious balance between responsible land use, appropriate technologies, sound land policies, and the integration of economic, social, and environmental factors to ensure long-term well-being for individuals and future generations. Our program is aimed to create a synergy and multi party effort to ensure land tenure, livelihood and sustainable practices.
The right to identity is a fundamental human right encompassing the right to a legal name, nationality, and a registered birth record, allowing individuals to be recognized as a person before the law that ensures lifelong protection in exercising rights, such as access to healthcare, education, and formal employment. Community security relies on strong social cohesion, where the right to identity—specifically, access to legal identity documents, nationality, and a recognized sense of belonging is crucial ot feel safe from exploitation and conflict. We initiative legal aid support and referral services as part of the program too. We believe that no human being should be deprived of citizenship and legal recognition of their rights and welfare, be it Malaysia or from our neighbors.
