Building community based leadership network and socio political empowerment of disenfranchised youths on prevention of violent extremism and militancy at the border regions of Sabah
In Oct 2022, ASASI conducted a 3 Day Roundtable and Training On Human Rights and Prevention of Violent Extremism with potential young leaders/influencers and mobilisers from the various vulnerable communities from the Indonesian and Philippines borders together with youth from the interior region for a session with CVE experts from Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines.
The training and dialogue aims to discuss on in depth understanding on violent extremism and militancy from the expert’s point of view and various trigger points of radicalization and hate crimes from the various geographical and communal perspective with a specific focus on youth and young women.The program was attended by youth from various border region with diverse background and citizenship.
ASASI believes that prevention of violent extremism and militancy is the responsibility of all people regardless of citizenship in Sabah, The program was supported by The Indonesian Consulate of Tawau
